Bought one today from Bunnings $80 on sale to suck up the window condensation. Plugged it in to charge, red light came on. Instructions say it should be charged in 120 minutes. Six hours later, the red light is still red. No idea if this should change to green or turn off when fully charged and if it means it’s faulty. Wish instructions would describe this.

Does anyone have one to tell me if the light should turn off or change colour on full charge? It’s the model without a separate charging base. Lead plugs directly into the machine.

Not familiar with this device but I would say just try running it and see if it works. Sometimes battery devices may need to go through a couple of charge/discharge cycles before they settle down. That has been my experience with other devices.

Sounds faulty. We don't get a red light. Flashing green while charging, then no lights at all.

Pretty sure with ours the red light flashes while charging and then solid when finished

@cshwone is yours the one on a separate charger or a direct plug-in like mine? Mine doesn’t have a model number it’s just called Classic, and am assuming it's equivalent to a WV 50

I just turned it on, red light came on and it’s working although I still don’t know what the light means as the same solid red light came on when first plugged in charging. Google has discussions about green lights and flashing green ones so mine has indicated neither of these...maybe they change colour by model. The manual has black and white pictures and shows lights solid and flashing at various times but no colour indication. Of course all windows dry as a bone today and don’t need it.

Might have to call Karcher on Monday and ask them.

Yes, the light flashes red while charging then turns solid red. Won't take long to confirm, the vacuum runtime is 20-25 minutes in total, so after some use plug back in and see if light flashes.

Another thing to watch is not to overfill above the maximum mark as water will be sucked through the motor. Not so much a problem when cleaning windows but very easy to fill quickly if sucking up condensation.

Thanks good to know @aaristotle especially about watching the levels.

Am now thinking maybe it is already charged out of the box. I swear it was red solid from the onset. Anyway, it was a good price as they had it on for $129 the day before when I checked on their stock at my store.

Mine is the one where the brick plugs directly into the wall powerpoint and then a lead into the vacuum. Must be different from yours as we don't get any red lights at all.

Mine is the same as yours and I get the same behaviour - flashing green while charging and I think it's solid green when fully charged.

It's about three years old, so maybe they have changed to a red LED on the latest versions.

Mine is at least 6-7 years old and has a red light. Maybe they have a bin of assorted leds and it's just the luck of the draw which colour you end up with.

Mine is green as well from memory and can't recall any instances of red. Sorry my one is in storage so can't test it right now.

Seems it’s random or wondering if assembled by someone colourblind. I always thought German stuff was conservative and reliably consistent. After reading all the above combinations might ring Karcher and query just out of curiosity.
