Hi

I am just double checking that I am using the correct filter on my phone line. I have installed the DYNAMIX XDSL Master Wired in filter ADSL/ADSL2+/VDSL/VDSL2. This consists of 3 pairs of wires (blue/white to ph, Orange white to incoming line from demark, and green/white to adsl2+ modem). I noticed that other filters people were installing, had only 2 pairs of wires and stated for ADSL2+. Is the Dynamix one I am using corect for my ADSL2+ line? (on the wholesale network at exchange)

The 2 pair filter is the older one...

Time to find a new industry!

The old 2 pair one is for ADSL2+ only. It's now been replaced by the new 3 pair one that also supports the higher bandwidth requirements of VDSL2.

Just for completeness if anyone else looks at this....

Both are suitable for ADSL connections, so it's not like you can only use the VDSL one if you're on VDSL.

As above the VDSL / 3 pair unit is the newer one and you should be aiming to install this wherever possible.

To clarify some more, the Line in (Orange pair) and Modem (Green Pair) are actually connected together internally, the filter itself also connects to the input and after the LPF the Voice side (Blue Pair) results.

So as you can see this is really the same wiring configuration as the earlier two port (albeit with a higher frequency response spec), the 3 port wiring is simpler to wire (saves 3port scotch locs) and does allow designers to implement a High pass section between the line and modem if they desire, but as I understand it none have done this as there is no advantage so as mentioned they are wired together.
