Ok, you are wondering what a cable tidy is right? ;-)

http://cpc.farnell.com/1/1/30472-cable-desk-tidies-grey-80mm-22008-pro-power.html

Picture me with a 83mm hole saw and a 80mm cable tidy, then my face once I realise they are are in fact different but I have already drilled the hole.

If anyone knows where I might be able to source a couple of these things (Bunnings = cannot) I'd appreciate it.

Cheers,

Whats that saying about measuring twice and cutting once...? :p

I would presume that 80mm is a fairly standard size, and you would be hard pressed to find something (a little bit) different in size from it. The flange on the top should have a larger diameter than 83mm, so can you just run around the edge of the hole that you drilled with some 2mm foam and glue, and then sit the cable tidy inside that? Maybe drive a couple of short screws at a 45 degree angle through the cable tidy into the board to make sure it stays there

lol - if only I had measured once!

Yeah, I might go with your suggestion - it will probably look ok. The interesting thing is that all the "standard" cable tidy sizes I can find dont seem to match up with the "standard" hole saw bits you can buy. They are all a few mm different of each other (unless I buy an adjustable hole saw) - whats up with that?!

That'll learn me I suppose.

I think the full saying is;
Measure twice, Cut once,
Swear like a sailor, buy another.

83mm is 3 1/4 inch so look at eBay. But you might have to play with the description, there are various names and then various countries.

You can never have enough Volvos!
