PM with address sent, should get it sorted in no time. Just wrap it in tin foil before you package it to protect against ESD, just a single wrap is enough and don't need perfect coverage.

You can never have enough Volvos!

14.5mm drive? never heard of those biggest is 12.5mm.

Bit late on the thread but this enclosure has taken all 2.5" drives ive ever tried:

I did actually measure it, with several different rulers, and yes it is about 14.5mm thick, no the biggest isn't 12.5mm - the biggest currently is mine ;)

For all those still on tenterhooks about my hard drive - I picked up a it-ceo (chinese I think) enclosure off TradeMe, it happens to be USB3, but it also is suitable for drives up to 1Tb. My drive is thicker (surprise surprise) but since the enclosure has a removable lid instead of the usual sleeve type cover the hd fits inside snugly without putting the lid on. So yes, the drive is working again, and if I get around to replacing my usb ports with usb3's then that's a bonus.

Hi there,

Could you post the details of the enclosure you bought on trademe, and possibly the username of the seller? I have the exact same problem with my Seagate drive...a quick search for it-ceo on trademe did return any results..

The carry case is vinyl not leather. The reason I got that one was because the listing specifically said suitable for drives 1TB and up- all the rest said smaller drives or didn't say anything. I have the upper half of the case tied on neatly with a piece of string :) - cotton string doesn't generate static.

My only drawback is that I can't retrofit a usb3.0 port to my computer - the only PCI-e slot is already taken :(
