As others have suggested, buy new appliances.....they're really not that expensive.

That Jaycar transformer would not be suitable for any kitchen appliance.
If you did manage to get a suitable transformer (probably rated around 3kw), you should be aware that the difference in Mains frequency (50nz v 60nz) would mean any 110v appliances with clocks/timers would probably not function correctly.

Gilco2: I would say its possible but the cost might outweigh any advantages. The workshop I worked in for last 33 years had 32volt wired around for safety and we had 32 volt electric drills and grinders. This before days of cordless battery drills etc. Used 32 volt stepdown transformers at the main switchboard. So a house would be possible but at what cost. May not be cost effective and of course would need to check whether it is legal these days or not as well

The situation you describe is not common but entirely legal as the voltage is below 90 volts, it's not legal so far as I know with 110 volts.

Best option is to buy new appliances.

The 32v thing was done to prevent theft more than anything.

the 110v site transformers from the UK are actually + and - 55v with the center tap grounded.

That is a proper isolated transformer, which is about 60% efficient, nice. Auto transformers (tapped single winding) are more efficient, but not isolated and so not advised for consumer use.

You can never have enough Volvos!

60%?! no way. the thing would be glowing red with 1800 w going thru it. The sides were not even too hot to touch.
