I buy those really cheap nasty ones at New World, you get a box of 120 for like, $30.

Active brand maybe? Anyway, they're great.

Of course, it helps not to have a F&P Dishwasher, no matter what you put in one of those you'll still get a mess at the end.

joker97: Is fisher and paykel that bad?

Well I've not owned one, but I thought it was general knowledge that the dish drawer things, while "space saving" and eco friendly, were pretty bad at actually getting stuff clean.

Our dishdrawer is fine. Just have to remember that each drawer is only half a dishwasher - if you overload them (like my better half likes to do) they won't wash well.

Gooseybhai: My mum has done a bit of her own research..... ;-)

She claims the cheaper paralell imported brands you find at the red shed, asian grocery stores etc are inferior to those specifically made for the AU/NZ market. i.e. they are made for the asian markets and as such theres different standards.

It must be true... because my old lady said so !
hahahah

The Warehouse ones I bought are from are from Scandinavia somewhere. On the front it says "fosfatfri", which I believe is Swedish for phosphate free. The original list of ingredients seems to back this up, but the warehouse has slapped on a translation which matches the ingredients on NZ boxes, and states ">30% phosphates". Hmm...

So the NZ ones have an advantage, and do clean better in my opinion, but phosphate free is quite a bit better for the environment, so take your pick.

I don't like the Quantum ones with the dissolving wrappers (which turn to glue, and stick). I prefer the All in 1 and manage to cope with the 5 seconds it takes to remove them.

Ive tried the tablets and not found any difference to just the whatever is cheapest on the week I need powder, which is usually something in a blue bottle I dont recall the name of.

All work just fine, except when the flatmates GF stuffs the draw thing totally full and so much is in there that my black cups become a mottled grey.

Never been one for rinse aid, seems to leave a texture on glasses and I dont really care about a few spots on them.

That is what we use (see post just before you).

F&P is okay, but you will do much better with Bosch and Asko.  In my opinion part of the problem is F&P employ lots of young people that have bright ideas but lack execution experience.  There are good experience people, but many not-so-experienced.
