sonyxperiageek: Oh and if you don't currently have tiles but would like to put tiles on the walls, do you need to plaster the walls before you put tiles on?

How high will you tile?
What size tiles are you using?
Ideally, if you are tiling with larger tiles (say 600 x 600) you should use a 'villaboard' or equivalent type of wallboard product, with 400mm centered studs and nogs. For general use in a bathroom, you are advised to use Gib Aqualine or equiv, as per the building code. The joints and screwhead holes should also be stopped prior to a waterproofing membrance being applied.

isis: I've got a Villa and have completed two bathrooms in the last 10 months.
Ensuite which is no bigger than 5 sqm has cost me in excess of 10k. We laugh at quotes come through for turn key solution and wondering how they can justify these prices..but getting contractors in individually has cost this much!
Eletrical for lights, fan, heated towel rail is small compared to plumbing cost!

One of the previous electricians that we had quoted for the job was for around $1600, but the electrician recommendation by blackjack17 has quoted us for around $500! What a big difference!

I'd be asking what's not included in the cheaper quote. $500 sounds too cheap.

andrewNZ: Does the switchboard have any RCD's on it?
Sony
timmmay: Do you have to run a new circuit from the switchboard? A spa could take a lot of power.
