Any chance you know what price change I can expect for a sectional - metal and wood? At least for a starting price, including the motor of course?

This is just a guess. If cedar panel and that width, and new auto, incl. installation, at least $3.5k. Perhaps at least $2.5k for metal.
You can't get around the "finger jam" problem with cedar facing. Just remember that if you close it from outside manually, that slot between the panels which seems an ideal "finger grip" closes up with remarkable force. Fortunately not a problem for kids - as they can't reach up that high.

I was quoted 1800ish for a single width one assuming I had already had the old door taken down and new wall built up to the size that I wanted. There was stuff all saving for not getting a motor on it as they said they had to add other locks to it if there wasnt a motor. That was a beige one, the only other colours they had off the shelf were browns and greens which IMO are even worse than beige. I figured I could always plastidip or get vinyl for something nicer like ferarri red or lambo yellow.

I've seen progress on some sectional cedar doors with beautiful workmanship, but they do the full variety of doors IIRC. Might be worth a call. Bruce would be the guy to speak with.

When I was looking they were all a bit boring colours. Was additional delay and cost to get anything that wasnt beige/brown/dark green/something else safe/boring.

Since it would be a flatter surface than the tilting door I would be able to put one of those wraps on it or else just plain vinyl to get it looking like something that isnt a bulk purchase by a subdivision developer.

Probably one of the sports car ones, or else just a plain colour that is bright. I have never got the urge people have to make their house the same colour as "nature" when it isnt.

Yup. Coloursteel comes in a "safe" range of colours for cookie cutter houses in developer McSubdivisions with covenants forbidding you to wash your car or mow your lawn without a shirt on. That's what many people like - sad but true.
So get it plain and paint it. Flat section (ie no embossing, faux woodgrain texture etc) looks good IMO. Cedar looks great of course - for a couple of years anyway - unless you spend a crazy amount of time maintaining it.

This is the garage door up for sale - double garage.
4.85m wide x 2.18m high.

I will be getting a replacement in 1.5 weeks. So this will be available then if anyone's interested for a fair price.
