Nice!  Well it is serving the pages, so that's the main thing :)

JoshWright: Only thing I'd be wary of is the quality of the DC output coming from that cheapo car charger... I'm can't remember why, but I think it's something to do with cheap components that can supply inconsistent voltages/amps.

Agreed - Initially I was a bit worried about that too, but so far it seems to be OK.

If it had turned out to be too dodgy, I was planning to build a DC-DC converter with a voltage regulator and about 4700uF of smoothing, but so far this has proved unnecessary as the pi seems fine on the USB power

Nice project. I have been thinking of doing the same for my NAS. I wonder how reliable the DC is for a motherboard.

Hey just a thought: instead of a redirect, why not set up a CNAME on your main domain pointing to the dynamic name, then you hide it completely.  Eg. www. or solar.

Jolly good idea (-: Will do it now.

Am at work so can't access Cpanel... all non-standard ports blocked... (cPanel used 2082) - just breaking out the Surface Pro and setting up the phone tethering - let you know shortly

Finally got around to this - guess what: it works (-:

Brilliant idea. rosner.net.nz bounces to home.rosner.net.nz which is a CNAME record to the dyn URL. Thanks for the suggestion!
