By my reasoning they'd both be masters.
We used to sell M outlets, I think up to a couple of years back. They're all 2C now.

gished: So I've popped open the socket which I though was the master. It has 3 cables going to it. 1 is labelled Alarm(!), another has the number 2 on it (suspect that's going to the 1st bedroom). The third is unlabelled and is wired into the middle (white) and top (blue) connectors, if you were to look at it with the capacitor at the bottom.
Does this mean my phone is going to my alarm first? I didn't even think that was connected to the phones.

Most likely a line grabber. Hope you have a master filter installed :)
