Been using this one for the past year works quite well.

however there is little control over the heat output.

 

For cooking been using the 40 (cycles on and off) and 90 degrees only anything over that is just to high insta burn food.

 

So may need to look for something less powerful and have better temp control.

How long do you estimate it would take to heat 8 lites of water?

hmm maybe 5mins or less @ max (220)

 

I usually boil 1 litre take maybe 1-2min on the 90 degree setting.

For 2L of water to get to a rolling boil without a lid on the pot, the k-mart one takes 5:36
