It's a little chip on the very edge of the bench  so it was just int he right spot to chip it. I reckon if it hit the bench top not near the edge, it would have been fine.

I've been quoted $240+GST to repair. Excess for insurance is $400.

Needs to be done, apparently if you leave it, it can lead to further cracking.

I would doubt that chip on the edge will lead to cracking. It may chip more though around it, depends on the quality I guess.  But if you are going to have it done, then as soon as possible is best. IMO They shouldn't really be quoting plus GST to consumers.
