My dad had one added. It was wood. Yes it could get slippery in frosts (rare where they were). He never slipped in the wheelchair, my mum slipped walking on it a couple of times though.
Some feed back on this. The ramp was installed this week, the job was done incredibly fast and to a very high standard. It is very easy to use and I am able to propel the chair up the ramp with ease. I will be interesting to try it when one arm is out of commission. The only very minor issue I have with it is it is a little noisy when folks walk up it.
