shipito are fine if you tell them and dont have more than 2 and choose fedex.

He was trying to order bare tools and home depot cancelled the order and wouldnt say why.

best buy, target etc will not ship to freight forwarders, at all. They will accept your order, then cancel it. Motorola's online store is the same.

home depot is likely similar.

Yeah, but I know of other people who have ordered fine from there as well so Im wondering if they have just added that restriction in the last few months.

richms: The tyobi one+ with hammer on it works fine, but the one that doesnt have hammer "drill driver" they call it is junk. Gearbox will strip out when you try to go thru something tough.

Im interested in how the brushelss one they do now goes, but not interested enough to pay the asking price for it.

Also AEG at bunnings is the same as ridgid at home depot. Both made by techtronics, same as ryobi and milwaukee. Get the tools off amazon or home depot and the charger from bunnings so you have a 230v charger.

Thanks for the tip. Amazon sells most ridgid products without a charger. Should be a good cost saving.

I'm mostly interested in a hedge trimmer and pruner - not really interested in battery and I don't think it will last long enough for all the trees/hedges I have to trim.

Undecided between the petrol and power. I prefer the no fuss of power and don't mind a trailing power cord. Depends if it will get the job done or not.

I have a virtually new (about 2 hours use) Husqvarna LD122 straight shaft with the hedge trimmer attachment. The hedgetrimmer I bought second hand so that's had use but only said couple hours on my main unit. I bought the LD122 from a mate who moved to London and he never got round to using it. I was waiting for spring to hit and was going to sell it, if you are interested I am looking at $450 for the lot. I have used a corded line trimmer a few years ago and it worked fine, then I got one of the B+D 18V. It was ok for the smallish section we had but only because the drill batteries also fitted.

Now I have a decent Husqvarna. It's great, although not what I would call a precision instrument, it wants to get stuck into everything.

I got one of these as I also have a chainsaw:

Not cheap, but great for stopping someone from mistakenly using the wrong one (and putting 2 stroke through the lawn mower!)

Let me know if you go the home depot route how you get on with shipping to a reshipper. Friend said he tried to youshop and they cancelled the order.

Hey, I've been looking at Ridgid tools. The Ridgid tools seem to have more options than AEG - there are some tools badged 18V and some X4 18V (and I even saw one GEN5X 18V). These don't _seem_ to relate to the batteries.

But quick query - do you know if your buddy uses one or the other? Last thing I want to do is buy something that won't take my battery packs.

That hurdle negotiated, I then just need to decide whether I go with the multi tool with jigsaw attachment or the straight up jigsaw. Flexibility vs designed for purpose...

Ive not caught up with him in a while, and hes moved to the tron since thats the only place he could afford to get a house. I dont recall any compatibility issues at all tho.

It looks like at current exchange rate, it doesn't worth the warranty issue to bring the ridgid tools from home depot.

Ive got stuff sitting at shipito that its not really worth shipping here now that the dollar has tanked. Contemplating just having them send them back for a refund.
