We went Methven Kiri for the bathroom vanity taps, shower mixer and heads. I find the Methven taps are a little noisy at low flow which I wouldn't have expected for the price.. Does anyone else have the same issue?

Satinjet is amazing.

For our kitchen reno I went for the Grohe Minta Touch - from a pretty geek (servo-drive etc.) kitchen this has to be my favourite 'touch', think it was $800 on special from memory but would really recommend it.

You will save a packet. I got two bathroom mixers in before Xmas and paid just over NZD$1,000 compared to the NZD$2,200 the local distributors wanted for them here in NZ.

I had a hassle free purchase from this online retailer so can recommend them.

Thanks - did you have any issues with connector sizes being different? And it was still that much cheaper even factoring GST into the pricing?

The plumber need to get an adaptor - something he normally carries but had just used the last of so it was a simple trip to the plumbing supply shop for him.

I was extremely lucky as the shipment was not picked up by Customs so no additional GST or import fees were due. Even if I did have to pay the additional $200 to cover this I still would have saved in the region of NZD$1,000.

I think all Hansgrophe taps have the same connector size.

We imported them from overseas as well including the iBox and they are all compatible with NZ ones.

Check your water pressure. If it is over 500kpA you need a limiting valve. Im always coming across houses with either no limiting valve, or incorrectly installed. (only controlling hot pressure and not cold pressure) No limiting valve also means no warranties on your tapware.

Also there are European standards for noise from tapware. So not surprised that Methven might be a little noisier. Still most likely to be the limiting valve issue though.

We've bought Methven because they had a good reputation plus they could handle unequal pressures so we could use/reuse them anywhere. Nothing cheaper has been as good.

Thanks for all the import guys; getting pricing from Mico's on Hansgrohe shower systems and Methven tapware - some decent discounts for a house lot of vanities, toilets, taps and accessories!

Based on my experience with Aquatica tapware and pretty useless warranty replacements, I'm not scrimping this time around - taps get so much use, it just makes sense to spend a bit more on quality IMO.

We demoed that showerhead instore and the water pressure it spits out was far from ideal. Make sure you try it instore first to ensure it is for you.

Forgot to add before. Get your plumber to check what the water pressure in your area is. In parts of Auckland the pressure is only around 350kpA. (Watercare min pressure is 250kpA) And supposedly most of Hamilton is around 300kpA. After allowing for friction losses you could well have to get low pressure tapware only. So you still get decent flow despite the low pressure. And make sure the plumber gets the pipe sizes right. (hardly any do).
