I got a 12 socket one off 1 day. Came with a non compliant mains lead that ESS didnt even answer my email about. Probably have a filter on the word "1-day" to the too much work folder.

Other than that, its just like one of the many 12 way ones off aliexpress but was cheaper.

I think I found what I was after.

This Jackson 8 outlet with 2 USB looks pretty good for $42. Half the outlets are large plugs. This Huntkey looks ok, but no spaced outlets. Or one of the smaller units with a standard wide spaced adapter.

Also found a square power adapter which might work well for any extras.

Or for $25.00

If you have a power socket behind the TV/Sterio you can manage the tangle of power cables to some degree by replacing the existing either vertical or horizontal single or double socket with a four way one. They will fit into an existing flush box,just take up twice the wall space. PDL641 for vertical and PDL 644 for Horizontal. That may then cut down the size of a multibox you would need. I have four twin socket outlets behind my setup and could have done with two more!

Turns out I have around 14 plugs, some come on with a power saving device when I turn the AV system on, some are always on for things like the router/switch. I think i'll just flag the whole idea and leave it alone. I don't want to get tangled up in the birds nest. People have identified a bunch of good devices though, I'm sure that'll come in handy some time :)

Why is there so many different names for these things? it's so confusing :/

In south africa if you say you need a "double adapter" everyone knows what you are asking for, for myself as a PC Technician I never know what to call it here so that people understand what I'm asking for.

I bought this one a few months ago - 5 ports, removable figure 8 plug. It's been brilliant and will be going into the "home theatre" area soon. (I took it travelled, size, weight and multi-voltage with the ability to change the plug made it a winner!)

The way I have my setup is that the power outlet goes directly into the UPS - then that has a couple of multi boards coming from it.

Currently I believe everything but the TV goes through the UPS protected circuits, but the Television is only on the surge protected outlet.

This allows (in short power outages) anything recording to remain recording - and there is a computer in there running my Voip software that will power down in the event of a longer power cut.

4 usb, power metering, it also has a master / slave function, ie you turn off your PC and the monitor and speaker are powered off also (not left in standby), and does the opposite when turning PC back on

These are good boards, I have one here, you can turn off the master/slave function on the board by entering a code, so all the sockets are independent, and only $20 for the board from Bunnings.

I've also heard it called a multi strip here in NZ. I agree with NomNom, here in NZ it feels like you have to explain what the things is that you are looking for. In SA, even with different names, no explanation was required.

Not heard multi strip before, always been a powerstrip or powerboard as far back as I can remember. Some people call them surge protectors even tho not many are, and it's doubtful that you really want them with that in them anyway.

Thanks for the reply, to try and not derail the thread this will be my last reply on this, you would then simply say "I need a 3 port double adapter" if you wanted one that gave 3 plugs.
