Yeh sounds a bit rough. But did they provide unlimited gas? I presume so..

for a fixed price? Did they have a clause to say they could change it after n period? I don't know...

It sounds like they dropped their pants to build a customer base. They probably know that people are not going to like this, but if all the other providers are not able to compete at this price then you must consider you have actually had a good deal for the past period, and your allowed to consider moving providers if you are unhappy with their current offering.

I am going to be on gas next winter... so yeh I will be shopping around for a provider too.

My plan wasn't unlimited, it was a 'Fixed Price' or something, up to X amount. Looking at the web page for Genesis now - Wow! The $129 plan I am on was way higher gas per year - like 3 times more possibly. We were using 20000 KwH per year on our old Trustpower account on pay as you go. Looks like we will be moving suppliers at the end of the contract...

And for those who havent seen this before:  https://www.powerswitch.org.nz/powerswitch

my $129 plan ended next Jan, I have been told I have already used 35,526KWh. should be 40000kwh for original unlimited gas plan, so I should be fine this year, but how about next year? I need to figure out...:) I did not realise that I could use this much.
