Technofreak: What about a Wet and Forget type of product?

Not a bad suggestion but they don't seem to have a specific tile cleaner. Maybe I'll go into one of their stores and ask.

I don't think you'll needa specific tile cleaner. There is more than one cleaner, I went to a local chemical company and bought some concentrate which I use for various jobs. It's basically the same as Wet and Forget at a fraction of the price.

My wife found a vid about using a power drill, and while I was quite dubious about this, I went ahead and tried it.

I got a large scrubbing brush and a very long bolt, drilled a hole thru the middle of the scrubbing brush and fixed the bolt thru it, and, you guessed it, fixed this bolt into the power drill.

Then using some dish washing detergent and hot water, I started up the drill and started scrubbing.  Fortunately the power drill had variable speed and it was quite easy to manage.

Amazingly, the tiles and grouting cleaned up very nicely, quite quickly, way better than I had managed to achieve after quite a lot of scrubbing by hand.

Sadly I don't have a reference to the video which inspired this, but I'm sure you can use your imagination.
