It may have come off. Now it is common to laser engrave things or put it in the molding of the case, in the past paper adhiesive labels were quite common.

UPDATE:  I got hold of a nifty USB style device that measures USB port amps and volts.

 

I plugged the 'unknown' power adapter into a powered multi-port USB bank, and the device into one of the ports.

 

Gave me a steady reading of 7.8 volts.

I'm surprised that it didn't destroy the USB power bank. As USB runs at 5V. Jaycar sell a multimeter for $11. Which is a far better way of measuring voltage from unknown power supplies.
