I think the airlines got fussy about their planes exploding.

ru.nkon.nl still looks ok. Does anyone have any experience with them? Would it be advisable to ship batteries separately from other items just in case the package gets grounded?

i have not personally used them, but nkon is popular in the flashlight (torch) community for delivering to pretty much anywhere.

i might give them a go as i need a few of these myself.

do you have a decent charger? preferably one that can analyse? that'll give you the option of giving some of those on trademe a go if the price is right.

it's very easy to re-wrap cells into whatever brand you want it to be, so it's almost like you don't really know what you're getting until you've tested them yourself.

having said that, i don't think anybody will be rewrapping cells into "xxxfire".

I've been a little iffy about ordering these in lately with the inconsistency of shipping from china.

cells designed for Vaping are very different usecases, I'm often picking up friends used cells where they Don't really handle the high amp requirements anymore but low long draw such as powering small projects is perfectly fine.

I've ordered some batteries and a charger from NKON.

9 Sony Konion US18650VTC6 3120mAh - 30A for 28 euros

Fingers crossed!

The torch is cheaper direct from the manufacturer anyway.

You can get an entire dyson handle with cells already done on aliexpress when I was looking for other accessories.

How was the third party battery? I figure that it's really hard to test whether the individual cells are any good, so a lot easier for them to sell you a pup.

Trade Me is probably cheapest if you're getting one or just a couple.

It's also the best probability of getting fake cells, recycled laptop cells, "protected" cells that aren't, etc. There's a real problem in finding decent 18650s that aren't fake, dodgy, or even dangerous, I'm not saying all the cells on Trademe are dodgy but there's no easy way to tell which are and which aren't. Your best option is to go to somewhere like Candlepowerforums and check which sellers they recommend for the real thing.

You missed out the "allegedly". With 18650s the seller is more important than the name on the cell.

I bought Panasonic 3400 Mah from a seller on TM. They were cheap, I was sure they were dodgy but putting them into my MC-3000 and running a few tests, they were legit.

I just checked his listing though and he doesn't have anymore sadly.

If I had to buy in a hurry I'd get them from Mr Postitive, I've bought from them a few times before and it's always good quality (not 18650's tho)

Further, he's described them as genuine, and if they aren't since it's a seller in-trade I can invoke the CGA and return them.

Anyway, I would still buy from nkon at the moment, I've ordered several times from them and haven't had an issue.

Yea, reading their desc they obviously understand the product they're seeing. Which is good to see, thanks, I'll bookmark them for future reference.

I got 2 x Protected 18650's for $20 from TM not too long ago, those are the ones I'm saying I tested and they came up to the specs of a 3400.

Considering 90% of 18650's for sale on TM are actually fake with regards to their rated mAh rating I wouldn't buy them off of there full stop
