So if I look at this right both sides need power?

 

Just trying to work out a solution for across a entrance gate outside.

For the ones I found, yes, both sides need power.
(Not an issue for me as I need power both sides for other things anyway)

You may be able to gheto up some mirror setup

Tonnes of those sort of beam sensors are used in industrial automation.  Should be easy to rig something up with a beam sensor reflector and relay.  Industrial stuff is generally water proof and has a wide temperature range (survives washdown, freezers etc) so it should be OK outside.

When posting AliExpress links, you can delete everything after the .html -- not only does this save electrons and bandwidth and virtual desktop space, but it means that when someone browses to that link, they can add it to their own wish list. Just saying....
