Aredwood: Rheem own a company called Hermetic, which makes elements. So easy enough to see if the failed element is a Hermetic brand element. And also cross reference its part code. To see if it is the correct type of element for that cylinder.

A couple of other minor things:
For the seismic restraint the building code requires vertical blocking to stop sideways movement. These are important because the straps provide very little restraint in that direction. Here's the picture from the building code Acceptable Solution - if you look at the instructions from the strap manufacturer it'll say the same thing:
The insulation looks like closed cell elastomeric foam. If it is then it won't last long unless you protect it from UV, especially if it's in the sun. You can protect it either by painting or with metal jacketing.
