My 2c. We bought an old Lockwood with original toilet etc. Took so long to fill which sucked as it also needed two flushes to get rid of the evidence

Anyway replaced with a ~$200 ceramic from Bunnings (pretty sure it was estilo brand). It was such an improvement. It lasted us the 10 years we owned until we sold it. I'm sure it's going strong still. So I don't know what's with all the thin ceramic comments.

Only thing that we did wrong was we planned to tile but got the toilet first. If you plan on tiling get tiles down before you replace the toilet. Otherwise they have to cut the tiles and as a result the toilet is 1cm lower after the tiles go in.

Edit: typos

You don't necessarily have to spend a whole lot of money to renovate/update a toilet or bathroom. We have an ex statehouse that we are living in/renovating to rent and over the last year been chipping away to get it in good state.

We bought a cheap toilet (approx $300) from Bunnings and had it installed, tiled and painted and it all came up really nice, would have cost less than $1000 (inc plumber) bought tiles off TM and Mega/Bunnings when on special, we have done the same with the Kitchen and Bathroom grabbing things that are silly cheap and storing them until we are ready to do the next. This is the toilet i did about a month ago.
