My last house had badly painted weatherboards and old wooden windows in very poor condition.
I ripped the boards off the front and driveway side, replaced with brick and cedar and aluminium windows.
Fortunately I had a mate who was a brickie, and one who ran a window company.
Also picked up a load of cedar @ $1M from a house that was being reclad due to the fact it had been fixed with galvanised nails.
Turned them back to front & reused them .. Ran the Rimu w’boards through a thicknesser , and used them for reveals and other stuff.
Didn’t spend much more that a good paint job, and according to a real estate agent I knew who drove past while I was fixing the cedar , added around $40K to the value / street appeal of the house.
Maybe worth looking into what you may add to the value by some form of recladding.
