I just replaced a (rubbish) Goldair Platinum heater with a much better Dimplex heater - both from Mitre10. This is in our nursery. Working so much better so far, and mounts on the wall and one of the selling features is that it doesn't get dangerously hot for kids. We also got the wireless hub and controller so we can control it from smartphone, and set schedules that can be very granular. It is actually a reasonably done IoT implementation; with full API documentation and it doesn't need internet access to work over LAN (unlike many cheap options which everything goes through the owners servers).

Those Dimplex heaters look nice, but fairly expensive. I prefer manual heaters than can work on a digital timer, and I avoid mechanical timers as they often make really annoying ticking noises. I'm thinking that it might be better to have a lower power heater that's on more, rather than a larger heater that constantly cycles on and off making a clicking noise each time.

Yes they weren't cheap but they are slim, silent (in both timer and any heat cycles) and safe to touch. Having struggled with the goldair ones for 18 months I have no regrets about spending the money on the Dimplex!

I had a rock bottom cheap wall panel heater (100+W) in a standard 70s house (poorly insulated but not as bad as 50s house).

It heated up the room just right in 0 degree winter in Dunedin. Mind you we are probably a bit tougher too lol.

But then it crapped out after one winter lol.

But yes it will work.
