Tracer:A microswitch really doesn't cut it for a safety system. Unfortunately red/yellow coloured stuff costs mega $$$. Rather than just a switch though, you'd want an interlock on the lid/door so it cannot be opened when the system isn't safe.
I was thinking a microwave-door-latch style arrangement, wouldn't that be enough? Is there a regulatory difference between "remove the danger condition on access" vs. "don't allow access when the danger condition is present"?
