I just rang Dyson and bought a new one. It was $100 or so, inc free shipping.  I bought a new rollerbrush thingy too at the same time.

Once both fitted it was like having a brand new vac again.

I really wanted a V8 Animal too, but this was way cheaper... Just got official route.

Our officially bought one actually died about 2 months after I bought it (orange light flashing, wouldn't charge) and they shipped me a replacement no questions asked.

I'm also looking for a replacement SV03 battery for a Dyson DC44. I notice on AliExpress there are replacement batteries available up to 68000mAh as opposed to the original 2100mAh. Do they really provide a longer/more powerful charge or are they just a gimmick? Are the genuine Dyson replacements any better than the aftermarket alternatives, whether bought in NZ or directly from China?

Thanks.

I would take a declared battery capacity on Aliexpress with a large grain of salt.

Many of the aliexpress packs are total fantasy values no matter how they try to BS it. Look at the powertools where they add all the mAh for the cells together to get 16800mAh on a pack that would be about 3000 at best once the lies on cell capacity and multiplcation are dealt with.

For something that will be left on charge unattended all the time in a house I wouldnt be risking cheap packs with unknown protection in them. Not like a powertool where it is usually charged and then put away.
