Where's all my Aliexpress junk that I bought going to go. Our little dog would also be no longer be able to bark at the postie in their cool buggy. They must stay I say.

We've been in our current place for two years I reckon we still receive more mail for the former owners than we do for ourselves.

+1 Aliexpress.

I've lived places with no letterbox and it can be a real pain. Have to get stuff sent to work which brings about new complications.

After 14 years in my place I still get the occasional letter for the previous owners. Some companies have very old data bases.

What we need is address portability.

NZ post should give everyone a virtual address ala Youshop, and you simply tell the post office where that address should be redirected to currently. It just seems like an absolute no brainer to me.

Ours doesn't get used much for letters, but it gets used quite a bit by the courier to put small items in when we're not home

Similar - but couriers in my area (apart from Courier Post) are good and leave parcels at my door - I'm down a shared drive then up a decent length private drive. The Courier Post person doesn't even bother bringing the parcel, she pre-fills out a card to collect and puts that in my letterbox. Found this out one day when I intercepted her putting the card in the letterbox and said I'd take the parcel directly.

This. And from a few other places (here and overseas) that I purchase from. And from a couple of places that are too backward to have electronic statements. And government/local government...

While we still have letter boxes now I suspect they will eventually be optional. My neighbour had two houses so he removed the letter box from one, just a street number on a post - no more junk mail, no local newspapers, a good solution for him.

Sure, we do need letter boxes. It's because the IoT is monitoring if something came in. Maybe we need printing capabilites of the letter box 2.0 in the future ;-)

Gotta have somewhere for the courier to put the note to say that you weren't in when they came by even though you never left the house that day for fear of missing them and they sure as hell didn't knock on the wide open front door...

I don't like these American-style letter boxes at the end of the drive myself. I prefer hearing my post hit the doormat.

Easier to do when the front door opens onto the footpath.

I was once going to put a mail slot on the front of the garage but didn't like the idea that mail might not be the only thing put through it.

I nailed it on real good last time, a big bang in middle of night and it held out, hate to see their hand.

What about credit cards (including bank cards), Car registration when brought online, Pass Ports, how do you receive those sort of things even if it's rare.

Also magazine subscriptions are in Letter box, which for me is Sky Watch at moment, plus get a newsletter from one place.

We are the front unit of 2 units and our letterbox is joint as well.

A few months ago some local hoons felt the need to kick our mail box and its all bent and mis-shaped.

Passports are sent via secure courier-I just got a new one a few weeks ago. Signed for so not left

Have found the couriers come so early that you are in bed and therefore not answering the door so they leave a card. Must save them a lot of time
