If the cable is not rated for direct burial it should be in conduit.

If the cable was taken anywhere near a fence an old style marker used to be a short piece of the conduit screwed to the fence.

Sadly while that seems like a great idea, no sign of any marker. Given some of the electrical work on our house defies any logic and demonstrates no thought whatsoever was put in by the sparkie, a small helpful gesture such as this was probably well beyond them.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Wasn't aware of that service, thanks. I have the electrical plan for the house but it only shows the provision for the cable to the end of the house, not where it goes from there. As its only a standard lighting wire I guess it's not terribly critical in the scheme of things.

Yeah. I’ve not had personal experience from it. Initially I was a little skeptical ask about it but the diviner’s tend to not be the out there weird types. Seems to work despite scientific testing of the ability shown to not work.

It turns up in the news every now and then headlining that a council employs (cough contracts companies that use cough) water diviners
