That’s interesting, im trying to do the same over lines weatherboard land having zero luck with my exisiting stud finder, might see if I can hit someone down with that model and see if it works out for me.
I had an afterthought on that. I had tried it quickly on a spot of linea not on the house - and where it had been direct fixed. I just tried it on some wall cladding where it's fixed over cavity battens, I don't think it's working reliably at all. I went back and re-checked where it seemed to work and tried a few different areas this time, and it's very hit and miss. The underside of the stud-finder is semi transparent, it looks like the transducer is about 35mm from the top, so depending on how each board is sitting with the bevel against the stud, it's not quite high enough to avoid the gap.
So I suggest you don't go out and buy one - it's only $60, but might not work any better than what you've got.
Very limited access on a steep site; Scaffolding is an option, but expensive and complicated due to the location, access, fall of the and, and height; also when required on an ongoing/regular basis then prohibitively expensive.
Will work up the wall putting in the coach screws systematically; building a platform progressively till getting to the top.
