OK, but presumably I'd need the appropriate Ramset one if I'm using Ramset acnhors to get the correct depth?

If the existing mounting holes are too big, why not drill three new smaller holes to suit these 33 mm fasteners. They’re only 5 mm diameter but I’ve used this size to fasten sliding door aluminium track to a concrete floor and they’re very strong and solid. Or go with the larger 42 mm ones and take a punt on not hitting the rebar. You’d end up with the three unused holes showing but that may not be an issue depending on your view on aesthetics.

Not a bad idea at all, but would probably rather look at that as a backup plan as we'd like to keep it as neat as possible.

I'm not sure if they sell direct to the public, but Ramset have a branch in Chch so I'll give them a call Monday when they're open about the setting tool as that would be my preference. It would also allow me to use nicer looking screws/bolts more like these, they look like the head would be about the right size to sit nicely in the countersunk holes on the footrest.

Would have liked to have gotten it done this weekend, but a couple of extra days isn't the end of the world.

Hammer-drilling a vertical hole into concrete/aggregate, needs care to keep the drill on-line and vertical (tricky) and thus the socket perfectly vertical so that the bolt head tightens up neatly to the base. Maybe a Vertical Drill Guide like this would help.

The lip (if any) of the socket can be set flush to the concrete surface.

Good idea, but don't want to wait for the shipping time from China.

Looked up some stuff about making my own, but I'm just not sure how usable they'd be with a hammer drill. I'll give it a try though.

I'm stuck at home with man flu at the moment so can't get out to buy any the of fixings at the moment anyway. Hopefully this weekend.
