With my current provider (Electric Kiwi):

Usage cost: $0.1810 per kWh
Fixed cost of: $1.6800 per day

With Z Electric:
Anytime: Inclusive: 20.15 c/kWh
Supply charges: 171.69 c/day

GST Exclusive. So not worth me changing. It seems Electric Kiwi have actually become far more competitive.

I'm with Electric Kiwi too. Far more competitive, without even taking into account the hour of free 'off peak' power everyday (if I'm home and can take advantage of the free hour, every device gets charged, and I can sometimes also time a load of washing). Usually achieve around 10% of my monthly bill as free without trying too hard.

Plus they have a plan where if you top up your account with $200, you get a bonus $20 credit, so that adds even more additional value. I haven't been able to find another company who can match Electric Kiwi pricing.

cokemaster: Had a look at our location in New Lynn - average rates.

Anytime
Day / Night: 21.40 c/kWh
Supply charges
219.29 c/day

Meridian still appears to be cheaper, particularly when using the EV plan. However further analysis required to factor in the 5L/$100 share tank, it may very well tip the scales.

yep same, I'm in green bay and Meridian are ~$70 cheaper for the same usage.

Says it cant find my address, put in my ICP and still cant find my address.

Fail on their part there.

Couldn't find our address ether. Strange as every other Power Co had no issue with same address. *shrugs*

Me too... especially strange since I'm selecting it from their address finder drop down thing.

Z is a fossil fuel company and it shows. As an electric vehicle driver this is a rubbish deal. Unless I can be offered an excellent night/weekend rate (which they can in Christchurch based on Orions lines charges) it's a no deal for me.

The daily charge is very high. You have to factor that in. If you use 30kw a day thats an extra 10c per kWh on top of the energy price.

Note also in Z electric terms-  We can suspend or stop giving the promo reward litres any time. We can change these T&Cs any time

I spent a very considerable time looking at energy pricing and for me and my usage pattern Ecotricity offer the best all round deal, and still do two years down the track.

Previously with Flick and I found some of their pricing practices dubious at best and in fact I complained to the ombudsman regarding it. and they modified some of their pricing statements.

Can't get it with a solar meter. That is a huge fail from a new power retailer. Shouldn't be allowed to be a retailer and not support that.
