Don't touch trade depot. I I know some tradies who refuse to install their gear, myself included. Another who has clients sign a waiver (lawyer written up) to cover them when the products fail.

I'd speak with the plumber doing the work and see what they recommend and gave them price up the supply. They get good pricing and with them supplying it you don't have to worry about getting the wrong parts.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

After talking to a few tradies and reading about people's experiences here and other forums, we've decided to split our order.

Tapware will be Methven/Greens/Foreno, toilets/shower from Bunnings/Mitre10, just not their cheapest option, maybe midrange, and furniture depends on whoever sells the style we like for the cheapest as there isn't too much to go wrong and least hassle to change it if it does.

Our are not likely to get the best pricing from the bug box retailers. I have found Zip to be the best value, along with buying from plumbline.  But this sort of thing , like many construction things, can be very expensive in NZ compared to overseas. But because property prices have risen so much, tradies and people are prepared to pay big money these days.

One of these loos is "normal", the other one will have you manually cleaning skid marks every day.

It doesn't have to be a Caroma to flush well but 4.5l/3l toilets do tend to have smaller target zones. This Bunnings Concerto $289 surprises me how often it only takes 1 flush. Apologies for upside down image, I wasn't standing on cistern.
