Yeah I have read thru most of the blog posts on IvoryEgg and met with one of their guys who showed me a demo system and even how to use ETS to program a new switch.

Yet to get any prices tho...

I am reasonably confident I will be able to control the relay and dimmer modules over ip, and that is all I need at this point. All the smarts will be in nodered.

When I come to sell the plan is to chuck a set of basic KNX switches and configure them up very simply, one switch turns on/off one light. So it is robust and easy for the new owners.

Sorry to derail this thread, and thanks @handle9 for your thoughts.

Yeah, that's how I understood KNX. Old but sturdy and more for commercial.

While resale and support is a good argument...
a) I'll leave that house feet first so don't care. It need to suit me and my wife.
b) if something goes out of support the worst that can happen is I spend $4k on a new lighting system.
C) and yes, if I die my wife is screwed because I don't document 😁😁😁

I have now bought a hue hub with some lamps and a switch and it does exactly what I want...for lights. And I got it past wife compatibility.

The rest i.e. non lights will all be Zigbee through a Raspberry Pi that feeds into my node red installation. All that stuff isn't as critical. I can also do 433mhz and might use that for simple stuff but I don't like that it's not encrypted or paired.

Cheers all

Damn! Have only just seen this.

Let me know if you're after another Hue Bridge for your set up, I've got a practically brand new one (have had it for about a year, but has never been used) floating about. I bought a couple of starter kits that each came with a bridge, just never got around to actually selling the spare one.
