Your Stihl should have a centrifugal clutch that releases when the engine is idling.

Much as the Ego appeals, I'll have to admit we just don't need something (so tempting), in suburbia. Might go for the 36V Ryobi, as in the original plan A.

We recently bought the Ozito 2000W 16" electrical chainsaw, to help cut up big rings of logs we had, for firewood (I didn't want to attempt chopping them up!). And also for some trimming around the property. Having never used a chainsaw before, I can't compare it to petrol or battery operated ones, but for us, it does the job well.
