I would think not, but that would something specific to your model number. Check the manual and see if it tells you.

It mentions it but doesnt seem relevant to me other than that beind the code it has keys learn, but arent keys frequency based?

FLaP the genuine replacements are like $100 for a single remote.

The MT600 main unit, is that what I use to find compatability?

Ive got an older merlin, found some generic remotes on trademe (which was probably just drop shipped aliexpress tbh) for dirt cheap and work fine once programmed

I find the smart WiFi opener we’ve attached to the door more useful - eg, can control it anywhere including as a shortcut on Android Auto. Also has a key advantage of ensuring the door is shut at night time!

Wifi door openers are generic - they simulate physical button press. Have a look at opener unit, there should be some terminals that are connected if you have physical button.

Homekit ones are overpriced by about 3x, but still worth it. Took like 15 minutes to install. Not having to carry keys with me is super convenient.

What would I need to have to install one of these myself. Obviously the wifi garage door opener itself, but is that all? Does it connect to my router or something? Or is this something where I would need to have some home smarts already (like alexa or something). We have apple phones.

Sorry if dumb questions, total noob at this stuff.

@duckDecoy if you're looking at Apple stuff, then Homekit is Apple's smart home system. Meross do a couple of garage door openers (1 door & 3 door) that will connect to pretty much anything, perhaps with a bit of DIY depending on the door. They just connect to your home wifi.

With just the door opener, it will work fine from your iPhone using the Apple Home app from home wifi, but if you want to access or check status away from home you need a device that acts as a home hub. The 2 most common are an Apple TV or Homepod - if you've already got one of these, then all good.

I replaced a dominator garage door opener with this smaller keyfob from TM
It was straight forward, as the smaller fob could 'learn' the coding from the larger one by pressing some buttons in a certain sequence.
As you have misplaced the remote, this might prove to be difficult. Unless you have another larger RF remote inside the garage. Mine was placed in a holder.

I agree with getting a cheap replacement off of TM. The Merlin replacement fob costs are daylight robbery. I got this one (albeit from TM rather than AliEx because it was quicker). Assuming your remote is just a standard remote, you open up both fobs and there's a series of slider switches that designate the code. You slide the switches in the replacement fob to match the old one, put a battery in and hey presto it works.

/edit Here's a TM link to the type I bought. It even shows you a picture of the switches you set the code with.

You mentioned model C945, I searched Ali, these are the same as ours and I ordered previously from Aliexpress, all up inc shipping ~ Nz $ 13

I gave up on the manufacturer units and (on the last 2 garage doors I had) installed one of these and along with a 12volt power pack, wired it across the internal button terminals of the main motor/head unit and have never looked back.... (I'm sure it's not as secure etc etc, but I've never had an issue with random door openings).
