Foil.covered foam over the inside of the windows does amazing to reflect heat away if you want to cut down the amount that gets in. Blocking it would probably make it better as an office too.

rscole86: Mitsubishi Electric have a calculator on their site.

Not checked energy wise, but they might.

As per the other recent thread you really need to have external shades stopping the sun/heat from even reaching your property..

If you Google "air conditioning sizing calculator nz" you will find links to Mitsubishi, Rinnai, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Hitachi heat pump sizing calculators

The other issue is ventilation, so need to also get some fresh air into the room.

Like a window? Maybe a door. Mechanical ventilation maybe not required.

i found windows/doors work poorly for ventilation. passive ventilation is highly dependent on the weather. no wind = no ventilation, lots of wind = way to much ventilation.

with a small place, all that may be required is a pc fan and filter etc.

edit: to add small rooms/houses are the hardest to get right. lack of buffer means rapid swings in conditions.
