Coffee is like anything else a consumer product. Like Tea or Tablets or burgers or automobiles there's a plethora of choices and options, either supported or not by marketers and consumers.
Whether one chooses Holden or Ford, Apple or Android, decafe or full strength....... its an individual choice......
This thread isn't about personal preferences it's about the consumers choice for consumption and input relevant to that.

freitasm: If you read the thread you are talking about again you will see that actually the supporters of non-pod systems are the ones that have been strongly replying.

I have had a couple of espresso machines and a couple of pod machines. I like the ease of use, quick consistent results.

I don't think Nespresso has done a good job in social media as you claim. They actually have a lousy Twitter presence and a Facebook presence but most of the times don't reply to questions people post to the them. This is an instant no-no in my books, making it actually a hack job on that.

OK - I'll accept that I could have selectively read the other thread - it was very very long.  I do recall taking exception when being accused of being some pretentious coffee snob - which I hope I'm not.  "Enthusiast" perhaps.  I enjoy the ritual of espresso making, getting consistent results becomes second nature, the "snob" part is perhaps related to the cost of home espresso equipment capable of (good) cafe quality results, grinders in particular (which are expensive).

I have a Latissima + (with the integrated milk frother). I love it. I use it everyday, currently with the Robert Harris Roma capsules. I have a "double shot" with some milk, so I use 2 capsules per cup for my morning cup. At night I would have the odd decaf latte (using Nespresso Decaffinato Intensio).

I'm not fussy, I enjoy the coffee it produces and it is just one button to make a cappuccino or latte. Cleaning it is easy, just throw the milk jug in the dishwasher once a week. Every few months run the descaler kit.

If I were to buy it again, I would probably buy one with the separate milk frother as I'd like more control over how much milk goes in the coffee.

Go check out the Nespresso store, they'll let you try different flavours and show you how the machines work.

EDIT: just as aside, I also have a Aeropress which I take on trips. Makes really nice coffee from fresh grinds (more comparable to a filter machine). Cheap and quick.

ajobbins: We have a Saeco automatic machine at home (Grinds it own beans etc) and it blows Nespresso (and most Cafes) out of the water.

I can't drink Nespresso - it always just tastes stale. I don't have milk in my coffee, but if you do, it's probably more tolerable.

We have a Saeco at work and its brilliant surprised it hasnt died given its duty cycle :)
