Q2200 http://www.webernz.co.nz/CompareProducts.php?comparisonId=2 - the one with the thermostat - I find that useful - as the time to heat up varies depending on the strength of the Wgtn gale (the wind chilll is acutally more important than the rain we've found)
Oh and there will be a sale on - we bought ours in a Nov sale at Palmers
jonathan18:
How many people can you cook for with the 2200? I'm more interested in this than the 3000 series as it's considerably cheaper, but I'm worried it may be not large enough for the family (4) plus guests.
Also, did you bother buying either of the stands?
Little: I suggest looking at this:

Even better, take a look at it tomorrow.

I can cook a size 16 chicken plus veges for 4 on it - but for stuff you BBQ you can basically feed an unlimited number - as its only 2/3 min a side for things like chops/steaks etc.
I bought this model after a friend catered a party for 30 using it - had the lamb roast on slow before the party - and then did the quick stuff during the party.
The big one is a lOT bigger an IMHO caters to the man market of I need a big one! I don't think it's necessary unless you need to roast 2 chickens simultaneously - ours would fit a reasonably sized turkey
WE bought the stand because our outside space is a just a grassy muddy patch at the moment - I used it on the wooden outdoor table and that worked too! The cover is robust and given that we are keeping it outside with a view of the sea that seemed a wise investment.

Total aside, but how far back does the lid sit off the BBQ when open?
As in how much clearance do these need off a wall behind them to open the lid fully?

I'm not adding carcinogens to my food with charcoal, and I don't have to sit around it making sure things don't burn.
gchiu: I'm thinking of one of these http://www.gosunstove.com/products/gosun-grill

I don't know how practical it is unless you live in a really sunny area.
