dan:

thanks for all the advice

after more trips last night i unplugged the next batch of stuff to rule them out, including my wifes laptop

this morning she took her laptop and plugged it in somewhere else, and the OTHER rcd tripped which has never tripped before, so looks like i have found the cause.

Haha so its caused by the wife LOL.

Time to find a new industry!

get a sparky in to test the rcd with a rcd tester and and that will tell you if its a faulty rcd, minimum requirements are 30Ma within 300Ms if it excedes this its a faulty unit, thats providing its not a 10Ma rcd, but also if it was a lighting mcb it could also be moisture in a outside light that could be causing the problem seen this many a times before, also check the curent rating on the rcd as it could be overloading rcd if its a rccb not a rcbo, as the rccb has built in thermal and magnetic overload
