In my old house, 1 6 kw mitzi (broke, had to replace it, outside warranty) and 1 4 kw Fujitsu which went perfectly
In present house, 1 5 kw fujitsu, 1 6 kw fujitsu, and both have worked perfectly from the day of install (nearly 3 years now). All split systems.
We bought them through the installer -- my view is that it may be important to do this. I've heard horror tales of people buying systems, and installers refusing to touch them!
Stan: Actually cost price for Daikin will be more expensive than Fujitsu
Probably somewhere between the Fujitsu and the Mitsubishi but depends on models compared. This is subjective but if you reference cars, a Fujitsu is kinda like a Daewoo and Daikins and Mitsi I would say are a Toyota.
I would disagree with your analogy based on my 8 years experience working in the industry.
They guy who visited said that they fit all the brands but that Daikin was the top in terms of quality. Their technology is also ahead of the others. He also recommended Mitsubishi and Panasonic.

We have 3 brands in our house. 1 Fujitsu, 2 Mitubishi and 1 Panasonic.
The Fujitsu was terrible from day one. It's noisy, didn't cool well and we had about 8 problems with it. Fujitsu were hard to deal with over warranty claims and you quite frankly couldn't pay me to take another. The Mitsubishi's are good, have Wifi so I can control them from anywhere etc. Quiet and effciient and cheap.
The Panasonic is good as well. Can't complain about it, except no wifi module.
I'd buy either brand again slightly leaning toward the Mitsi.
I've heard good things about Daiken, our sales rep tried hard to get us to go that way, but it was about $300 more and I couldn't get my head around the extra money for little difference.
There is a wifi module for Pansonic, its called IntesisHome. I have one on my ducted panasonic system, that I had installed by EES. My first one flaked out after about a year (I was the first one they installed and was a "Beta" tester apparently, which was good, because they refunded me the $350 for the unit when the installed the second one, so it was free for me :)).
Ive only had the new one since tuesday (so 5 days), but so far its working. I wanted a wifi one so I could hook it up to my home automation system (which Im waiting on intesis granting me API access, you have to request it, its a PITA).
Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on the floor mount options available? We currently have a fixed duct at the top of a wall/step in the ceiling which doesn't push the heat down - the ceiling heats up nicely though! While looking at diffusers we could retrofit I came across the floor mount models which you can also recess into the wall, they look tidy & I do like the idea of having the heat source lower down. They don't seem too common though and curious if that is for any real obvious reason?
We have a Fujitsu split system floor mount model (6 kw heating), which works excellently -- the best aspect is that it has 2 vents, top vent of the usual sort with swing etc; but also a large bottom vent that automatically opens up when it needs to change temperature fast (e.g., when you turn it on and the room temp is way off). Blasts out the heat and the cold (necessary at the moment!). Really good to get the heat coming out at floor level, rather than just being vented at the top of the room, and staying there.
The big problem with floor models is finding a good place to put them--usually much more wallspace at head height than at floor. Luckily we had an end wall with a clear cavity behind it -- as I recall, it was set in about 100 mm. Looks very neat.
Dont mean to hijack the thread, but I was looking at a heat pump for the bedroom and am considering between a Panasonic and a Fujitsu (we have a Fujitsu for the living room which is decent). Looking at the 2 models below:
Thanks for that - also, has anyone had experience buying a heatpump from Harvey norman - how is their installation? I know they get someone else to do it - but does that company do a shoddy job or a decent one? I got a friend working there and he is giving me a pretty decent price with the installation.
