My 10kw Fujitsu cost around $4K installed, and my medium size daikin 7kw around $3300 installed. $2K is cheap.

2000 all together (heat pump and install). Is that a bargain or a rip-off?
Dirt cheap.
The install looks OK to me. The worst part is the hole in the wall from the light fitting.

I doubt it will be cheap, because when was a plumber or electrician ever cheap?
When its included by the retailer as part of the sale at a fixes price. They tend to pay a fixed price so the installs are done as quickly as possible.
Ahh, okay, i haven't come across that before. I guess the trades people taking on that sort of job are taking a bit of a gamble.
They came out and centered the heat pump earlier this week ![]()
wellygary: there may have not been a horizontal dwang at the right height , so it had to be mounted on the vertical studs, which could give rise to it not being centred...
I had to check my something-to-JAFA phrasebook to identify that as a real word. For anyone else who's puzzled by it, it's a noggin (which is far more obviously a real word than "dwang", what is what that thing that Jar Jar Binks wears is called).
Yup its 1cm off centre, not something to complain about considering its more important to attach it to some really solid timber in the wall. Even if really off centre I would say ok as long as structurally supported and in a position to spread air around the room, ie not too close to a corner.
Theres a missing screw on the outside trunking, but its normal for lagged pipes to be cable-tied behind the outdoor unit like that.
I would have asked the outdoor unit be mounted away from the patio area, although they may have charged for the extra piping.
Time to find a new industry!
