So reading through the IgenixAirConditioner.js file I noticed the fan oscillation switch is assigned to DPID 104... which means it controls the LED on the Goldair heater. I just checked this and it works!

I can see why the Celsius/farenheit toggle doesn't do anything - it is assigned to DPID 19, which I don't think relates to anything on the Goldair heater.

Likewise the fan speed does nothing because its assigned to DPID 5.

I don't think it is going to be very difficult to edit IgenixAirConditioner.js to make this plugin perfect for the heater!

QQ - Can you turn off the LED/display on these heaters? I have other heaters which a far too bright for bedrooms and I've seen some say yes, others no.

Yes, through the Goldair app. Click the open eye icon and it will change to a closed eye. The display should turn off after 1-2 seconds.

A couple of questions related to these. I have two and am having an issue and an annoyance.

Issue: one heater often turns off randomly - displaying "E1" in the display. Not sure what E1 means, but it means the room gets cold quick! Anybody know what this code means or how to stop it?

Annoyance: the noise when a physical button on the heater is pressed is REALLY LOUD. Does anybody know how to mute the button?

Just a word of warning regarding automating the goldair heaters using the https://github.com/codetheweb/tuyapi . I upgraded one of my heaters to the new firmware 1.0.2 of Wifi and MCU modules (via the Goldair heater app) and I found out the new firmware has changed to new version 2.0 of the Tuya IoT framework which is currently not supported by the https://github.com/codetheweb/tuyapi library. It looks like devs in the TuyaAPI community are aware of this change with other devices and they are working on a fix https://github.com/codetheweb/tuyapi/issues/175 . Here is hoping they come up with a fix as it appears the version 2.0 of Tuya protocol uses different encryption and ports. I will keep track of developments in the forum and test with my heaters as they make progress. For now I would not recommend upgrading your heaters to firmware v1.0.2 or above if you want to keep your automation working.

I will share results if/when I get something working via https://github.com/codetheweb/tuyapi as they progress work on Tuya v2.0 protocol.

My heater (the 2000W PT model) has been unable to be set over 13 degrees on Eco mode since the weekend - is anyone else experiencing this?

It is unfortunately on the latest firmware - I only got a week or so of it in HA before it updated :(

I do not have the 13deg issue, but don't really use eco mode and am looking at replacing mine with Dimplex units as I am getting frustrated with the lack of reliability with my Goldair ones.

I contacted support, the 13 degree limit was because normal mode was set to 17. Eco is limited to 4 degrees below normal mode (bit strange, but oh well).

A fork of python-tuya has been updated to include the new protocol. Pretty simple to update the Home-Assistant module to use it.

Install https://github.com/belzedaar/python-tuya in your home assistant python environment.

Edit custom_components/goldair_heater/__init__.py

Modify the REQUIREMENTS line to
REQUIREMENTS = ['pytuya==7.0.4']

Find the line (line 134 in mine):
self._api = pytuya.Device(dev_id, address, local_key, 'device')

and add on the next line (remember that python cares about spaces - space it out to the same indent level):
self._api.set_version(3.3)

Restart Home-Assistant and it should start working again

Looks like Home Assistant is revamping climate devices in general - a number of breaking changes to incorporate in the next update. I'll post back here when I've had time to get this operational again!

I'm looking at getting a wall based convection heater for the baby room and would be keen to integrate with home assistant. I run home assistant in Docker.

Are these still a bit flakey or are they solid now.

I got rid of my Goldair heaters as they were flakey as heaters - without any link to HA. I found they were cutting off sometimes, and didn't have very good thermostat control. I.e. set to 21, go in and the room would be roasting, and the heater reporting 25. Also the display and lights are VERY bright, which probably isn't good for a baby room. You can turn them off via the app, but I didn't want to have to do that every time.

I replaced them with much more expensive Dimplex items which are proving much better.

Not sure if I'm that happy with it.

The temperature is 2 degrees out compared with two different xiaomi temperature sensors.

It's difficult to know what mode the heater is on (cool/warm/hot) as the indicator light is very difficult to see.

It doesn't remember what mode it is on when you turn it and off.

The fan keeps blowing for 10-30 seconds when you turn it off, so if you can't see the indicator light then you don't know if you have turned it on or off.

I’m still using mine. Works great, even after the recent firmware update.

The update allows you to control the heater remotely via the Goldair app, so you might not even bother with any other integration.

I am running HomeBridge on a raspberry pi, and use a plugin for a Tuya air conditioner. Conveniently, the oscillating function in the plugin switches the display on and off.

I leave the heater plugged in, and just use the app to turn it on and off. It’s set on auto to 18 degrees, which is what I like my bedroom temperature to be at. So even if I leave it on during the day, it’s usually off anyway because 18 degrees is pretty close to regular indoor temp. I turned the display light off, and taped over the little blue “on” light.

Can’t understand why others have had issues. My homebridge is buggy as, so things aren’t seamless, but I know it’s not this heater causing the issues (The Chamberlain/MyQ API seems to cause most issues). Maybe I just got one from a good batch, who knows?

I'm still using mine, and mostly happy with it. Would be nice if the display was an LCD rather than a blinding LED - I need to just tape over it. Currently turning it off in the app each time I turn the heater on, which is a little annoying.

I keep it set on 17, and it varies up and down between 16 & 19 while on. I have Home Assistant (patched with the instructions I mentioned a few posts above) with a Node Red automation that turns it off each morning.
