I think you should use a much larger pot.
Tomatoes are heavy feeders and will suck up water and nutrients like no tomorrow.

Having 2 plants in the same pot will also increase the incidence of fungus diseases. They require good air circulation to avoid fungus/ leaf and fruit rot.

A big tomato plant can go through about 40L of water in a week in summer, in a greenhouse.

That's genuinely shocking. How much will mine use? :)

Only one way to find out. My plants turn into monsters, 2m wide, 2m high, 40cm deep.

Well, can you over water them? I have been putting in around 200m a day into the container I showed. Usually if the soil looks dark coloured I may consider skipping a day or two.

Mine are in containers like this, so they take what the need.

I'll be pretty surprised if mine reach that size, I am pretty bad with green stuff. I can grow weeds pretty efficiently, but almost everything else dies.

They grow great in a greenhouse protected from the wind, with good nutrition. Not really any skill to it. You just have to watch them carefully for pests or disease, trim them so they don't get too big. In a greenhouse if they get too big they get less airflow and more disease / pests.

Tomatoes need regular attention - food, water, removing laterals, tying and pest control.

If you keep on top of it, they will grow rapidly and produce lots of fruit.

They really reward attention.  If you keep them healthy, they are also quite robust to pests and diseases.

So I have been growing quite nicely, I have around 20 fruit on the one bush. Unfortunately, I have mould which is apparently not fixable and not preventable, just more or less bad luck, so the plant apparently will be dead soon with some half grown fruit going to waste. I feel disappointed. I was super looking forward to them.

Serious now. You are in AKL, it's humid. Can you remove some leaves so that there is better circulation? I have a rose here that is awesome, but too many leaves below so aphids. Thinned it out.  Better air circulation, all solved. Many remove the lower tomato leaves as they tend to wither, and also harbour moisture, circulation may help. Same principle ap[plies to many plants, but ima sub tropical environment its more critical. Also, ask the local nursery for advice. You can no doubt spray it

Use the Plantix app to work out the actual disease. Most can be treated. Tomatoes are prone to disease and I gave up for a few years. I'm trying again this year, keeping the plants cut well back so they have better airflow, less plant density, and keeping a close eye on them to catch disease or pests early.
