Gemini:Good idea, I'm going to do that with the timer plugs I already have
You can never have enough Volvos!
Arlec have something that will do this, which I spotted in Bunnings the other day. They cost $30 and I get the impression you can turn things on and off according to temperature and / or a timer. I haven't looked at it in detail thuogh.
Does it count as necro when it's your own thread? ;)
I actually bought one of the Arlec units last weekend, in preparation for an impending winter baby. Just had a quick play with it so far but it seems straightforward and reliable. Choose heating or cooling mode based on a toggle switch on the side. Choose your desired temperature. Unit turns on when it either rises above or drops below your target. No battery/memory, so if you turn it off at the wall the target temperature resets. It doesn't have a timer function, despite the product name Bunnings has given it.
Wow, thread from 2013 back alive.
Good to know that the "Arlec Temperature Controlled Programmable Timer" is now available, and at a competitive price.
Much more cost effective solution that what I previously ran (heatermate stacked on digital timer). I see heatermate now also offer a unit with integrated timer.

Thanks, I was telling a colleague the other week about Heater Mate - I've passed the link on to him.
Procrastination eventually pays off.
