I have to empty my lawnmower catcher 3-4 times when I do my lawn, into a large tall bin. How does the robot do that? Or does it just leave the clippings lying around?

It mows the lawn every day and only takes a tiny bit off, therefore no need for a catcher.

I've ordered one of these, no more mowing lawns for me.

Interesting concept, bit spendy though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wish I had your budget.

How much grass would it catch and how/where does it empty the catcher?

I imagine you would still need to deal to the edges with a lime trimmer and edger machine to get a nice finish. Very often there's as much work doing this as there is mowing the grass.

Having said all that I'd bee keen to see one in action.

Well I visited Bunnings and found that they actually had about twice as many models in-store than they had on their website, so that meant I was faced with some models that I hadn't researched.

I spoke to a sales assistant who sounded like he knew what he was talking about and he steered me towards a Homelite brand electric mower. It was the same price as an Ozito but he pointed out that the Homelite had metal hight-adjuster parts rather than the Ozito's plastic parts and that these were the first parts to usually break. He also said Homelite, who I have never heard of before, are a big brand in the US and are owned by the same company that owns Ryobi (I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, I've heard both good and bad things about Ryobi power tools over the years).

So I took it home and the only assembly was bolting the handle on. Of course it started up first time (one of the reasons I wanted to go for electric over petrol, because I'm not getting any younger and starting a petrol mower that's being stubborn would be murder on my back!) and it made short work of my lawn which had been left unmowed for about a month and a half and had lots of those long paspalum stalks on it.

Overall I'm very happy with the result, we'll just have to wait and see how long the mower lasts!

What happens when it comes across dog poo on the lawn? does it mow that too? that could be messy.

It's just as messy as push mower, but it it doesn't matter as there won't be anyone around.
