I can see someone selling Mammoth R3.6 polyester ceiling blankets for $16m2. Mammoth Multi is R1.9.

Greenstuf, Insulpro and Cocoon are the other brands of polyester.

I'm not sure if it's retailer margin and/or in the case of Placemakers, commercial bias in favour of Pink Batts. I mentioned the deal I got for Knauf Earthwool to the sales dude at Placemakers, and got a FUD lecture about foreign manufacturers, different R ratings. All BS - Fletcher is a mere peanut in the global market compared to Knauf.

Insulation Warehouse is selling Greenstuf R1.8 underfloor polyester for $11m2. Have you tried ITM?

I shall go down to ITM this morning. I'm wondering if some retailers load the price, then discount heavily to their "preferred installers". Trade discounts are another thing. My builder is charging me cost & 5% for materials. The first order of timber delivered cost me $1260 - I'd costed it at > $2000.

There's a problem. The Mammoth "Multi" is extremely expensive. It's around $27 / m2 - so for 240m2, to do the sub-floor "material only" is almost $7000. All very nice with recycled PET and photos of cats, but they can forget about it at that price.

That price is nonsense. I got my house (about 135m2) insulated with Insulpro Novatherm (the same product as Mammoth, Insulpro is the parent company) for about $4.5k installed (It cost us under $3k with the subsidy).

As an aside with what you are doing I would be hitting up your local merchants for a trade account. Tell them about your project - you will be surprised the discount you can get.

The price is "ridiculous" - but not nonsense. $208.75 per 6.75 m3 pack from Placemakers (less 10%), and about 10% less at Mitre 10. Same price - two suppliers.
ITM would not offer me a trade account or decent discount. Their loss - we bought elsewhere. I visited this morning - they're getting back top me with prices.'

I'm starting to favour using the "Cocoon" product mentioned above at ~$11/metre as a full blanket covering the joists, as the joists are at nominal 15 inch centers, then getting insulation under the joists may give a better result. I talk to suppliers on Monday.
