Read your dishwasher manual as many have filters and arms that need to be periodically cleaned by the owner or else the dishwasher won't work properly.

I don't think F&P was well managed. Many F&P fridges were designed noisy because the evaporation tray sits loosely on top of the compressor and when the compressor vibrates the two hum loudly from vibrating against each other. You could make many fridges quieter just by stopping the tray vibrations.

Sometimes oven clock problems are caused by software issues in the oven. If the oven is powered down and the software rebooted the clock may start working again.

Pyrolytic cleaning means an oven becomes very, very hot. What that does to an oven's longevity I don't know but it doesn't sound good. There has been a spate of hot glass explosions from the front of pyrolytic ovens when in cleaning mode so keep at a safe distance.

It is not just Smeg that is overpriced but whiteware across the board is usually very overpriced in New Zealand. One Miele oven is over $7,000 more expensive in New Zealand than in Germany. Prices can differ greatly like the Simpson 63K914 which is currently $1099 at Mitre 10 but $1,819 elsewhere. Warranties can be short too except the likes of Asko, Ariston and AEG branded ovens which come with 5 year warranties and may sometimes be available on sale.

So we got our Oven, installed and pretty happy with it. Much bigger internal capacity (77 usable compared to 53 in our old one). Lights are much better.

Funny electronic buzzing coming from the display, very quiet, but I called F&P and they are sending someone out to look at it, the whole process took 3 minutes to arrange and they promised regardless of outcome, they cover this under warranty.

What a massive improvement compared to trying to get Bosch to deal with their stupid dishwasher which doesn't dissolve tablets.

I haven't seen the new control wheel, , but I always dry my hands when dealing with electrical devices, as I don't want water getting in anywhere. On mine, the knobs can push in when not in use. I have found though that the oven bulb blows regularly, so now I don't bother changing it.

I would agree on the dishwashers, I have found that the grey coating inside is also not that durable, as parts oave chipped off with rust showing underneath, so have a few of the metal parts on the baskets. Never had that problem with Asko.

Did you by any chance buy this model?

I think the buzzing sound is common and two days ago I got a F&P tech come in and replaced the LCD circuit board (under warranty) and it made no difference.

I haven't contacted F&P yet. Will give them a call later today.

networkn: I'd have to so we are pretty disappointed with our second Bosch Dishwasher compared to our first. Pretty badly designed. With the addition of the cutlery draw the internal space for trays and stuff is less and as such we have trouble fitting tall glasses and full sized plates in the washer at the same time even though the baskets are height adjustable. I see similar complaints online for it. We also have an issue where the soap dispenser doesn't open always leaving dishes dirty or the soap half wet but not used. Bosch have been difficult in dealing with it.

We have a washer and dryer which are awesome.

What model do you have? We have this one. The cutlery draw up to is great, and we fit standard sized dinner plates in fine. Tall glasses don't fit great so we wash them by hand or put them down the bottom with plates. Soap dispenser on ours doesn't open about 1 time in 40, most of the time I don't even notice.

We have the same Bosch - it's one of the best dishwashers I have used for loading options. Dead quiet too.

In the past, I used to swear by F&P and always purchased it as first choice. I don't go near it now (how the mighty have fallen).

Ok apparently they didn't have the parts (main circuit board) so they will come back next week to finish the repair.
