Jase2985: if its only 60sqm why dont you just buy a cheap mower that comes with batteries? the the ozito ones from bunnings?

Going to have a look at Bunnings this morning. Still prepared to get a decent one. The cross platform batteries are an idea too.

I am trying to convince my self (and management) to get the Ryobi 18v one.
If you get it, do a quick review - keen to hear from someone real what it's like.

I have many ozito power tools (drills mainly) that the tool is still good but the battery is stuffed and bunnings are "Oh well, we cant get parts anymore and when we could they were more than the tools"

Ozito is just a made up brand stuck on whatever the chinese factory is making. Tell them your colours, give them artwork and you can have 1000 tools made in your own brand if you want.

Once that model is not made any more, then there is noone making batteries for it. So in 2-3-4 years when the batteries on the ozito die, you are up for a new mower. Ryobi have been selling the same post type battery for years, and have indicated they have no plans to change to a slide on one with the shift to li-ions like all the other brands have done to make it smaller so you should be fine for a long time to get batteries. Also if you wanted more for the ozito even right now, good luck with that.

Just a suggestion in response to the original post!
If you have a big budget (twice the cost of a really good petrol mower), why not consider a robotic battery-operated mulching mower.

As posted on Geekzone elsewhere I have had one for many years for a 230sqm lawn.
There are a couple of suppliers in NZ.

There is nothing like pushing the start button and walking away to do something else and leaving the machine to it, although it is difficult not to just stand and watch it perform its magic!
Running costs: New $100 lead-acid battery pack every few years, new $50 blades every year or so, and a few dollars worth of electricity. No other maintenance costs.
2 hours to mow the lawn (battery lasts at least 2.5 hrs).

Lots of advantages over motor mowers (electric or petrol).

It stops if it starts raining. The grass is mulched to almost dust by the three high-speed blades.
The smooth even finished lawn is great, no residual stripes to be seen because of the semi-random criss-cross mowing pattern.

Worth considering if you like that sort of thing, and over time is economical compared to petrol.

So far like the look of the Ryobi 36v System. I saw the 18v ones today (One +) and TBO i wouldnt really use all the different tools available as im not a "Handy Man" by any stretch of the imagination

By electric I meant battery powered. I have the one + 2X 18v battery powered model. Reason I went with that is because I already own a 18v weed trimmer and wanted the same battery pack and charger for both. Very clever marketing by ryobi because once u make the investment on the batteries and charger u are hooked on them for the rest of your powertools. My drill is also ryobi lol.

Hahaha... I've got the trimmer, drill, blower, hedge clippers, rattle gun, torch, mower.... need the angle grinder and the circular saw.

Great I love it - I struggled to find a detailed review before I purchased it so I was a bit unsure how well it would handle my small lawn, but using 2x 4.0 ah batteries I get about 2-3 cuts per charge depending how thick the grass is - my lawn is approx 100 sqm. It cuts just the same as a gas powered mower in my opinion.
