I caught another with peanut butter today, so it does work. I'm using peanut butter with the mouse bait right now. No idea how many of the little buggers are in the shed.
With the traditional trap, bend the catch to be more sensitive. Might have to file the end of the pin as well so it does not hook onto the catch. Or if the last ones are hard to trap, then switch to poison. They will die outside, does not stay inside after eating the poison, so nothing left behind to clean up.
Resurrecting an old thread. We have recently moved home and this winter has seen an infestation of rats into the upper reaches of the house. So we have brought in pest control as the initial step. However, long term we were wondering over the efficacy of these:-
Bought it when we had a bit of a problem at one place, and the mice disappeared after a few days. Plugged it in when I moved into my next place, not sure if there were mice around or not, and a year or so later the mice didn't seem bothered by it. I have since moved house again and will only plug it in if / when I get a problem.
Edit: Not sure if it's no longer working or if the mice had built up a tolerance to it. Oh well.

We were lent one of the possum versions of that trap.
Worked very well, the possums literally climbing over the bodies of their dead friends to stick their heads in it..
Unfortunately couldn't justify the cost of buying & running them & have gone back to our Timms traps.
I'm sure the rat ones work just as well.
We use vitamin D rodenticide in in a series of external bait stations, blocks nailed to bearers under buildings, trusses in ceiling spaces.
Judging by the amount of poison that disappears we're killing heaps of them.
Thanks for the info. These things either work well, or they don't at all. It looks like the former is the case. SWMBO is paranoiac about rodents so the cost is not a factor !!!!
